A Labour of L♲ve
O Tsukiyo pieces are crafted from upcycled Japanese kimono and obi fabrics, each with a cherished history of wear and love.
Before upcycling, every kimono and obi undergoes meticulous unstitching and laundering. Eco-safe and natural detergents are used to assess colorfastness, shrinkage, and overall condition.
Most obi and kimono fabrics feature natural dyes and delicate threads, resulting in inherent variations in color and texture. Embracing the life of these fabrics by celebrating the signs of age, patinas, imperfections, and minor flaws as intentional features.
To ensure your pieces stay in their best possible condition, they require careful handling during use and storage. Normal wear, tear, and fading are not considered faults but rather layers in the history of each piece. Cloth swatches are provided for potential future mending and repairs when needed.
